Jasmine Women Part II

He at first didn't turn up and 阿莉 just waited and one day he turned up at her home with his luggage. He stayed on but some how he and 阿莉 slowly drifted apart because he was too placed his work before family. After some time living together, 阿莉 sees a doctor and realises that she cannot conceive and becomes very depressed and psychologically unstable. He then suggests that they adopt a child and they adopted a girl and her name is 阿花. They treated her like their own, including 阿茉. 阿花 brought great joy to the family but 阿莉 was already quite mentally unstable by this time and sometimes she would think that her husband was cheating on her or was having designs on their own adopted child. She even threatened to report him to the authorities. Somehow one day her husband died and she couldn't take it and commited suicide and left 阿花 under the care of her mother 阿茉.

阿花 was very close to 阿茉 but she inherited a very bad trait of her mother, that is not to take the advice of her grandmother, who at that time was acting as her mother since she died when she was very young. 阿花 fell in love with this student who was going to another further part of China to study university and she sort of worked to pay for his fees and they got married secretly despite her grandmother's objections. One day she accidentally blurted out that they were married and her grandmother was very disappointed, saying that she's like repeating the mistake of her mother. Somehow things didn't turn out the way they should and they drifted apart too because of the little time they spend together and after the husband graduated, he went to Japan to work and one day he said that he can't be together with her and came back to settle the divorce with her. At that time she was already pregnant with his child and under the law, they cannot divorce until the child has been born. They didn't settle the divorce and he went off with his girlfriend (I assume). The movie then ended with a raining scene whereby 阿花knew that she was going to be in labour in the middle of the night and went out to get a taxi which she didn't manage to get and walked around to try to get one. The rain was very heavy and she couldn't wait any longer so she sat by a fire hydrant and took out the things which she prepared and gave birth on the spot.

I would like to think that the story isn't supposed to be anchored on the mistakes on of the three generations of women but rather it was centred on motherly love and young women seeking romance.
